Stay safe
Simple rules. Safe meetups.
Phokat.in is built on trust between neighbors. A few common-sense habits keep everyone safe.
Meet in public places
Pick a well-lit, busy spot like a metro station or café. Daytime is best.
Verify the item in person
Inspect condition, test electronics, check completeness before taking it.
Never pay in advance
All payments happen at pickup. Anyone asking for UPI/bank transfer upfront is a scammer.
Bring a friend
Especially for larger items or first-time meetings, going with someone is safer.
Report suspicious users
If something feels off — fake photos, pressure tactics, abusive messages — report immediately.
Trust your gut
If a deal feels too good or a person feels off, walk away. Plenty of other listings exist.
Common scam signs
- Requests for advance payment, UPI, or "verification" fees
- Refusal to meet in person or share a phone call
- Asks you to click strange links or share OTPs
- Prices that are unrealistically low for high-value items
